Decision Day: Avery Johnson
On July 5, 2022, Maize quarterback Avery Johnson announced his commitment to Kansas State, picking the Wildcats over Oregon and Washington.

Johnson and his family allowed GoPowercat exclusive access to follow him throughout the day in the buildup to his announcement. From shopping for the K-State hat he would put on at the ceremony to giving his new offensive coordinator Collin Klein a call to let him know the decision, GoPowercat was on the scene to document the day.

A four-star rated quarterback according to the 247Sports rankings, he was rated as the No. 9 overall quarterback in the country and the No. 1 overall player in the state of Kansas for 2023 recruiting class. Johnson made his decision live on CBS Sports HQ in coordination with 247Sports.


Decision Day: Linkon Cure
​On July 1, 2024, Goodland tight end Linkon Cure announced his commitment to Kansas State, picking the Wildcats over Kansas, Oregon and Texas A&M.

A five-star tight end according to the 247Sports ratings, he was rated as the No. 38 overall player in the country, No. 2 tight end in the country and No. 1 overall player in the state of Kansas for the 2025 recruiting class.
